A doctor doesn't prescribe without a diagnosis. The same applies to fertilising your soil. Know what's there before you add anything.

A doctor does not prescribe medication without first running tests. They need to know what is wrong before they can fix it. The same logic applies to your soil.
If you are adding fertiliser to your land without knowing what is already in your soil, you are guessing. Sometimes you will guess right. Often you will not. And guessing costs money.
Every field has a different chemistry. Nutrient levels, pH, organic matter, and cation exchange capacity all vary from farm to farm and even from field to field. What your neighbour applies on his land may be exactly wrong for yours.
A soil test gives you a clear picture of what is in your soil right now. It tells you what is deficient, what is in excess, and what your soil pH is doing to nutrient availability. From there, you build a programme that targets the actual problem, not what you think the problem might be.
For a farmer, that means:
For the agronomist or adviser building your programme, a soil test is equally important. Without it, any recommendation is a generalisation. With it, every product and rate is justified by data.
Beyond Soil Life™ offers two soil test options through beyondsoil.life/pages/soil-test:
The Standard Soil Test (R414) covers the Mehlich III Basic analysis: pH, phosphorus, potassium, calcium, magnesium, sulphur, sodium, and key trace elements including iron, manganese, copper, zinc, and boron. It gives you a solid foundation for building a fertiliser programme on any crop.
The Comprehensive Soil Test (R1 167) goes further. It runs the Cape Standard analysis from Nvirotek plus total nitrogen, adding organic matter, cation exchange capacity, base saturation, and a fuller picture of your soil's fertility status. It is the better choice for serious growers, commercial farmers, and consultants who want a complete baseline.
Taking a soil sample does not require a specialist or special equipment. You need a spade, a Ziploc bag, and a marker. Walk your field in a Z shape, take samples from at least 5 points per hectare at 15 cm depth, mix them into one bag, and label it clearly.
Then WhatsApp us on +27 60 319 8990. We arrange the courier and the lab. You drop your sample at your nearest Courier Guy kiosk or Pudo locker at no courier fee. There are more than 2 000 of these collection points across the country, so there is almost certainly one near you.
Once your results are back, a RegenZ agronomist builds your complete fertiliser and biological input programme at no charge. They tell you which products to use, at what rates, and when to apply them, all tailored to your soil, your crop, and your growing system.
A Standard Soil Test costs R414. If an accurate programme saves you from over-applying a single fertiliser input, or from missing a deficiency that was costing you yield, that cost pays for itself in the first season. Often in the first application.
Knowing what your soil needs is not a luxury. It is the starting point for everything else.
