A farmer with 400 ha gets an agronomist every fortnight. A farmer with 2 ha gets nobody. Here are the three steps that close that gap.

A commercial farmer with 400 ha gets an agronomist on the farm every fortnight. A farmer with 2 ha gets nobody, and then gets told they are farming badly.
That gap is not a knowledge problem. The agronomy is well understood. It is a distribution problem: there are not enough agronomists in Southern Africa to visit every small plot, and there never will be at a price a small plot can pay.
So we built the three steps that get a small-scale farmer to a proper, written fertiliser programme without anyone driving out to the field. Here is exactly how it works, what it costs, and what it will not do.
Ask a farmer with 1 ha of cabbage what fertiliser they are using and the answer is usually a brand name and a rate someone at the co-op suggested. Not a soil result. Not a crop-specific plan. Not a schedule.
It is not carelessness. It is that every route to a real programme has a gate on it:
Remove those three gates and the advice gap closes. That is the whole design brief.
Everything else is guessing. We have written about why fertilising without a soil test is like taking medicine without a diagnosis, and it holds: you cannot correct what you have not measured.
Our lab service through AgriSol:
The Standard test is enough to build a programme on. Start there.
How to sample properly. Take 500 g of soil from at least five points per hectare, at 15 cm depth. Mix those five points together into one bag. Five shallow scoops from one corner of the field is not a sample, it is a rumour.
How to get it to the lab without paying courier fees. Order the test online, then WhatsApp us on +27 60 319 8990 with three things: your GPS coordinates, a photo of the labelled samples, and the name of your nearest Courier Guy or Pudo point. Drop the samples there. We cover the collection from that point.
Once your result comes back, the Soil Health Wizard turns it into a programme. It is free, it runs in a browser, and there is no obligation to buy anything.
Six steps:
You get back a week-by-week schedule: which product, what rate, which week, plus the pH and nutrient corrections your soil needs. It arrives by WhatsApp or email within 48 working hours.
A programme on paper raises questions in the field. That is what Reggie is for.
Reggie is our WhatsApp agronomy support service. Message +27 63 412 5473 to register: name, language, province, consent. Then the menu:
Reply 0 at any point for the menu. Reply STOP to withdraw consent and stop all messages, which is your right under POPIA and which we honour immediately.
Reggie currently works in English and isiZulu. Afrikaans is planned but not live, and we are not going to pretend otherwise.
The weekly check-in is the part farmers use most. It is a short prompt asking what the crop is doing, which catches problems in week four instead of week ten.
We would rather set the limits out plainly than have you find them at harvest.
RegenZ does not employ a SACNASP-registered agronomist. The wizard's output and Reggie's guidance are indicative. They support professional advice, they do not replace it.
The wizard output is generated automatically, with no human review. It works from your soil values, your crop and your area. It does not know your field history, your cultivar, the disease pressure in your district, your water quality or what this particular season is doing.
Which means: if the programme says something that contradicts what you can see in the field, trust the field and ask Reggie. And on high-value or unusual crops, get a registered professional to look over it before you commit a season to it.
The advice is free. The inputs are not. Realistic entry points:
Individual products start at R76 for AminoK in the 1 L pack, with 1 L and 5 L formats across the range. Everything is manufactured in Pietermaritzburg from locally sourced materials.
Fair question, and it deserves independent evidence rather than our own marketing.
The Mahlathini Development Foundation ran trials in Bergville, KwaZulu-Natal, comparing organic conservation agriculture plots using our product basket against conventional fertiliser plots. By the second season, the organic plots had caught up with the conventional fertiliser plots. The full findings are on our Bergville case study page.
Note the timeline honestly: season two, not season one. Building soil biology is not an overnight substitution. Anyone promising you a first-season replacement for synthetic fertiliser is selling you something.
Yes. There is no charge for the programme and no obligation to buy from us. You need a soil analysis less than a year old, which can come from any lab.
Yes, as long as it is under a year old and you can upload it as a PDF, photo or spreadsheet.
Message Reggie on +27 63 412 5473 and choose option 1. We will walk you through sampling and submission.
English and isiZulu. Afrikaans is planned for a later phase.
Not too small. The Patch Pack is built for 20 m², which is a home garden. The wizard handles anything from that up to several hectares.
It is handled under POPIA. You consent at registration, and you can withdraw at any time by replying STOP. Our terms and conditions set out the full data policy.
Pick whichever step you are ready for. If you have a soil result, go straight to the Soil Health Wizard. If you do not, message Reggie on +27 63 412 5473 and start with a test.
If you run a farmer group, a co-operative or a development programme and want to put several hundred farmers through this, see our smallholder partner page or contact the team.
Prices quoted are indicative at the time of writing and subject to change. Beyond Soil Life™ trademark application is pending. RegenZ does not employ a SACNASP-registered agronomist. Guidance in this article, from the Soil Health Wizard and from Reggie is indicative and is intended to support, not replace, advice from a registered professional.
